Test report:
This model has been requested, not to say demanded, in the club forum for a long time. Now it’s finally here, at least in the smaller 1:32 scale. A similar vehicle was already available in the Uni and 124 ranges in the mid-1970s, but at the time in the Jägermeister livery. In terms of authenticity, the current model pulls out all the stops: the snow shovel-like front spoiler, the angular wheel arch extensions, the protruding rear spoiler. It’s no coincidence that the vehicle is affectionately called the “Batmobile” by fans. The not-quite-circular shape of the rear wheel arches is also true to the original, and at the rear, you’ll find the classic chrome-plated rear panel, which was often lost on the aforementioned Uni and 124 models over the decades.

Technology and handling:
Technically, the chassis once again corresponds to the well-known and proven designs. Despite its relative size, the total weight of 103 grams is just within a manageable range. The front axle is continuous, and the headlights have a bit of trouble penetrating the blackened lens. The old adage “length matters” proves true once again when it comes to handling. Without the rear magnet, the cornering speed is wide and easily controllable, although in this case, the corners should be equipped with shoulders. Otherwise, the rear spoiler won’t last long if it frequently comes into contact with the guardrails.

Conclusion:
Carrera has been tackling the German Racing Championship and related models from other racing series since 2003 and 2006, respectively. The BMW 3.5 CSL continues this tradition, as does the currently outstanding 935 K3. Visually, the model is very well-designed, and its performance also meets the well-known standards.
