The development of the Leopard 2 dates back to 1970, directly after the MBT70/KPZ70 project between the USA and West Germany failed. The goal was to create a modern and mobile main battle tank that would replace the Leopard 1 in the long term. Over the years, the Leopard 2 has undergone repeated upgrade programs to increase its combat power and protection. With the Leopard 2A6, for example, the weapon system was improved and the Rheinmetall 120 mm smoothbore gun L/55 was introduced, which is a further development of the previous L/44.The Leopard 2 is not only used successfully in the Bundeswehr, other NATO nations also rely on this main battle tank.

With dimensions of approx. 687x236x200 (LxWxH mm), the Leopard 2A6 is ideal for the discerning customer. In the professional edition, it features excellent quality airbrush paint, 2.4 GHz circuit board technology and a new loudspeaker. This model features superior driving characteristics, a wide variety of functions and realistic sound. The high quality tracks, driving and guide wheels and track rollers, as well as the lower hull and battle turret are made of metal. Many small parts such as ammunition and different stickers perfectly round off the true-to-scale replica.

Controls and functions

The powerful package features a 2.4 GHz control system. The vehicle is equipped with the IR battle system, so battles with vehicles from the same series are possible. Motors with optimized torque give the Leopard 2A6 a precise, smooth ride. Metal gears with robust gears and an improved gear ratio provide increased power. Proportional control lets you start the tank very slowly and increase speed smoothly. The Leopard 2A6 drives forward and backward, also with a left and right turn each. Likewise, it can be turned left or right on the spot. You can raise and lower the gun and rotate the turret 360 degrees. Various engine sounds, the barrel retraction, muzzle flash and smoke formation from the mufflers round out the realistic experience.
